High Tide Society doesn’t just play the hits, they bring the ultimate soundtrack of the late ’70s and early ’80s to life. With a killer mix of smooth yacht rock and irresistible funk and disco, they channel the era when Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Hall & Oates, and Fleetwood Mac shared the airwaves with Chic, Donna Summer, the Pointer Sisters, and Rick James.
Whether you’re in the mood for laid-back West Coast vibes or ready to hit the dance floor, High Tide Society delivers a polished, high-energy show that keeps the crowd hooked. Want pure yacht rock? We’ve got you covered. But we love mixing it up—just like the radio used to.

We were playing a private event in Coronado when someone wandered over to the event after hearing us from a distance, and it turned out to be David Lyons, “Koko” from the original Yacht Rock series and one of the writers who created the show with J.D. Ryznar, Hollywood Steve, and Hunter Stair. Dave told us how much he loved the band, which honestly blew us away.
Dave also shared the fun fact that he’s the reason captain’s hats are tied to the genre. He suggested wearing one in the series to give it that “yacht” vibe, calling back to the smooth, polished L.A. sound of the late 70s and early 80s – music you could easily hear on a yacht at the time.
For a band that celebrates yacht rock and its true history, running into Dave was an awesome full-circle moment for us. Any band that calls itself a yacht rock tribute has Dave and his crew to thank.
We linked the video below to Yacht Rock episode 2, but we highly suggest watching all 12 (5-minute) episodes… You’ll be fully in the know afterwards!

High Tide Society, formerly known as AM Gold, set sail in 2014 with the mission of paying tribute to the smooth hit songs of the 70’s and early 80’s – Yacht Rock. In January 2017, AM Gold changed its name to High Tide Society and split into two separate entities, live entertainment and apparel.
While the group’s flagship logo and clothing design continues to be the “Sailors Ruin” mermaid by Aussie artist Isobel VonFinklestein, other designs are currently in production and will be available in 2024!
